However, working towards your dreams is much more enjoyable if you remind yourself from time to time what it is you’re working for.
Today, I’d like to take a look at Snapchat’s founder, Evan Thomas Spiegel and some of his most ballin’ moments that have successfully made their way to news front pages over the course of the last several years.
Evan Spiegel is the definition of success, and he knows it. He got a $800 million bonus just to make his company public, which at the time made him one of the world’s youngest billionaires. As of November 2017, Evan’s net worth is around $2.9 billion.
“I am a young, white, educated male,” the Snapchat creator once said at a Stanford business conference. “I got really, really lucky. And life isn’t fair.”
However, that doesn’t mean he hasn’t been enjoying it to the fullest. Let’s take a look at five most notorious times when Evan showed the world who’s the boss.
1. He drove an Escalade to school
When Evan Spiegel hit 16 and got his driver’s license, his parents – top-level attorneys – gave him an Escalade, which Evan happily parked everyday in front of his High School. Even more importantly, he drove the fuel-consuming monster during the California Energy Crisis, where his father represented Southern California Edison. How badass is that?
2. He built Snapchat to… Get laid
Much like another social media visionary some time ago, Evan Spiegel’s motivation to start the multi-billion social network was largely influenced by social issues in his personal life. “We weren’t cool,” Murphy, Snapchat’s co-founder and Spiegel’s partner, told Forbes, “so we tried to build things to be cool.” And what have you done to increase your chances?
3. He was the soul of the party
It seems like during his years at Stanford, Evan Spiegel was quite the party monster. “Fuck Bitches Get Leid” – those were his exact words in one of the leaked emails.
4. He moved into Han Solo’s house
Shortly after he started dating the supermodel Miranda Kerr, Spiegel bought Harrison Ford’s 7,000+ square feet mansion for $12 million dollars. I mean, one doesn’t just move into Han Solo’s crib.
5. He dated Taylor Swift
Where there’s smoke, there’s fire, and the romantic rumours about Evan and the popstar superdiva in 2013 probably had some truth to them. Either way, it all just makes Evan look even more badass.
